SDSL & Bonded ADSL

In the UK there are primarily two types of DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) services available: ADSL and SDSL. The most common implementation, ADSL, stands for Asymetric Digital Subscriber line and can be found in the majority of homes and small offices in the UK. This type of connection is most commonly run over a standard PSTN telephone line. 'Asymetric' refers to the different upload and download capabilities of the connetion - usally 256kbps 'upstream' and 2Mbps 'downstream'.

We can supply business-grade ADSL connections for £29.99 +VAT per month with £49.99 +VAT activation charge. We offer connections with a 256kbps upload speed and a download speed of 2Mbps, on 20:1 contention. Please contact us for details.

SDSL

Unlike ADSL, SDSL is a 'Symetric' service, meaning the upload and download speeds are the same - usually either 1Mbps or 2Mbps. SDSL is a much more 'heavy duty' service that ADSL and is delivered over a dedicated copper pair into your office. ADSL connections are contended at either 20:1 or 50:1 whereas most of the time, SDSL is not contended (ie 1:1). SDSL is an ideal solution for those who's Internet connectivity needs have outgrown the basic ADSL platform and need more guaranteed bandwidth available in each direction - especially for VPN applications.

A suitable SDSL router is required to use the service. We can provide a pre-configured Cisco 878W for £499.99 +VAT if required. This high-performance router incorporates a 4 port 10/100 switch and has 802.11b & 802.11g wireless networking capabilites.

Bonded ADSL

We are one of a handful of providers in a position to offer an exciting new option in high-speed Internet connectivty. Bonded ADSL is the ideal solution for those who have outgrown the capabilities of SDSL but cannot justify the expense of a high capacity leased line. We can deliver a bonded ADSL Internet connection to most locations in the UK with an 8mbps downstream capacity, and we can provide up to a massive 32mbps as BT continue to roll out the 8mbps 'Max' ADSL service.

The bonded ADSL service works by 'bonding' up to four standard ADSL connections together to create a single virtual connection and greatly increases the speeds available at a price well within the budget of most organisations. This service is ideal for medium sized offices, schools, colleges and any other organisation that requires high speed Internet connectivity at an affordable price.

Schematic of our Bonded ADSL services

The initial installation charge for for the 4x2Mbps ADSL service (8Mbps bonded) is £1499 +VAT and monthly recurring charges are £299.99 +VAT. There is a minimium initial contact period of 12 months. The 4x2Mbps bonded ADSL service includes the following:

  • Activation of 4x 2Mbps ADSL lines (customer arranges line rental & installation direct with BT)
  • Ongoing rental of 4x 2Mbps ADSL lines
  • Supply of a rack-mountable Cisco 2811 router, including 4x ADSL interface modules
